Monitoring the oil quantity, temperature and quality in combustion engines during operation is currently difficult, which is why many avoidable damages occur. This patented sensor system can monitor these parameters in real time and use them predictively. The system can be easily coupled to existing engines without any modification.

Software apps that predict required maintenance or oil changes in real time unleash the full power of this system. In dashboards, dispatchers can view the status of all engines digitally on a smartphone or tablet. Real-time monitoring prolongs maintenance cycles and prevents operational failures. The sensor system fits ideally into Industry 4.0 and predictive maintenance strategies of innovatives companies.

The technology is protected by the European patent EP 2399010. You can easily incorporate the existing functional prototype, which includes a display and data processing module, in your technology roadmap.

  1. Device (10) for measuring the operating-state-dependent quantity of fluid, especially the amount of operating fluid and/or of lubricant in at least one drive (1) or apparatus, wherein at least one sensor (3) for detecting the transverse and/or longitudinal inclination of the drive (1) or apparatus by a measuring/evaluation unit (2) is provided, characterized in that the measuring/evaluation unit (2) includes at least one container (7) for the fluid to detect the fluid level in the container (7), being coupled via a pipe (4, 4') to an inlet or outlet (6) for the fluid, in particular an oil drain screw, of the drive (1) or the apparatus.
  2. Device (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the sensor (3) is formed as an acceleration or angular sensor (30).

  3. Device (10) according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the device (10) is permanently connected to the drive (1) or apparatus.

  4. Device (10) according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the device (10) is detachably connected to the drive (1) or apparatus.

  5. Device (10) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the device (10) is coupled to a drive or apparatus control, in particular an ignition signal generator of the drive (1) or apparatus.

  6. Device (10) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one sensor (3) is provided for detecting physical and/or chemical parameters of the fluid, in particular of pressure, temperature and/or the chemical composition.

  7. Device (10) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that 
    the determination of the amount of fluid and/or the detection of the transverse and/or longitudinal inclination is continuously or cyclically performed.

  8. Device (10) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a memory unit (9) is provided for the detected values.

  9. Device (10) according to claim 8, characterized in that the memory unit (9) is wireless or via wire associated to an evaluation unit (2) for the
    detected values.

The patented invention is key to reduce both maintenance costs and periods of railroad engines and heavy-duty engines, e.g. construction vehicles. Moreover, the oil management system significantly mitigates the risk of sudden engine failures while it has a beneficial effect on the overall oil consumption. In summary, the patented oil management system saves money and time. No worries either.
